The Dash Between

If you are reading this there is a 100% chance that you are physically alive. No matter how old you are one thing is true is that you are in the middle of living your dash. We live our lives in different seasons and that is ok but no matter what the difference in ages, we are all currently living in the dash. If you are a believer in Jesus, you have two birthdates, the first is the physical birth date and the second is the reborn date where you decided to follow Christ. Both are important because your original birthdate represents God’s creation of you and how wonderfully made you are. The second date of being reborn signifies that you are a follower and from that day on that you will always put Christ first in front of everything else and eternal rest is with Jesus. In between there is a dash, this dash means that the person lived a life, whether a day or years, a life was lived. How are you living your dash in your life now? Do others see that you are a follower of Jesus or do others see that you follow everything but Him? One day when you are called home you will have a physical death date on your tombstone.

When you leave this world how are you going to be remembered? Better yet, did you allow God to work through you and impact others’ lives to Him? If you can say that something needs to change in your life, then you are in that dash now and you can start today. We do not know when we will be called to eternity but we need to make the most of our lives in helping others while we are living on Earth. For now, on when you look at other tombstones, remember to look at the dash and think about the life that person lived and remember to make sure that when you live your dash that you do it to the best of your abilities and that you allow God to direct where your steps land. Proverbs 16:9 says, The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. If we as believers allow God to direct our dash, there is no way of knowing how many people can be positively impacted in that decision. Living your life to the fullest is often said but I will not say that because sometimes fullest can represent foolish. So today when you go out into this crazy world remember two things, one, Jesus is with you always and two, Live your life to the fullness of Him. God Bless you and may your dash be all for living for Christ. Amen.
